[JAKARTA] Indonesia’s mass rapid transportation (MRT) construction project in Jakarta will continue under Japanese technology, with the government having signed a 45 billion yen (S$399.6 million) contract with Japanese trading company Sojitz Corporation.
Sojitz said that it concluded a deal with Mass Rapid Transit Jakarta, the government-owned operator of the city’s mass rapid transit system. This agreement aims to extend the railway network, planned for the second phase of its development.
Under the terms of the contract, Sojitz will play a crucial role in engineering, procurement and installation of the train facilities, including overseeing the signalling systems. The contract will run for up to 75 months.
